The industry's biggest brand-marketing week gets underway in Atlanta with CMOs from Coca-Cola, Starbucks, and Gap on the docket. Roblox marked its 20th birthday with a creator-payments overhaul that had investors cheering. And Reddit's automated ad tools are now open to anyone with a budget.
The biggest week on the brand-marketing calendar just started, and this year's agenda leans hard into one question: what does AI fluency actually look like for a CMO.
Adweek's Brandweek 2026 begins tonight with a welcome reception at Southern Exchange, the historic 1927 building in downtown Atlanta hosting the event through Wednesday. The official agenda kicks off tomorrow with the conference's first-ever dedicated AI Accelerator Day, combining hands-on workshops with tactical guidance aimed at making marketers more fluent in AI tools.
Confirmed speakers include Manolo Arroyo of The Coca-Cola Company, Tressie Lieberman of Starbucks, Terence Reilly of Crocs, Faby Torres of Gap, Rachel Delphin of Twitch, Drew Panayiotou of Keurig Dr Pepper, and Dr. Bernice A. King of The King Center, alongside sessions on brand reinvention, measurement, and purpose-driven marketing.
An entire dedicated AI day at the industry's flagship brand event tells you where the CMO conversation has landed this year. It's not "should we use AI" anymore, it's "how fluent does our team actually need to be." Worth watching which brands show up with real case studies versus which ones show up with a slide deck.
Roblox marked its 20th anniversary by rebuilding how its creators get paid, and the market noticed immediately.
Roblox marked its 20th anniversary at its annual Developers Conference by announcing Roblox Wallet, letting eligible US creators 18 and older get paid in real currency every business day instead of through periodic Robux exchanges, with a linked Roblox Card following in 2027. The company also unveiled Roblox Everywhere, letting creators publish games as standalone apps on mobile, PC, and consoles, plus Build, a mobile prompt-to-game tool that 71% of its roughly 9,000 published creators had never used Roblox Studio before trying.
The numbers behind the announcement are substantial: creators have earned more than $5 billion through the platform's DevEx program since 2013, including about $1.7 billion in the past 12 months alone, with the top 10 creators averaging $65.7 million a year.
Moving creators from a game-currency exchange to real daily payouts is a bigger deal than it sounds. It's Roblox telling its creator base to treat this as an actual business, not a hobby with a payout ceiling. Any platform that wants to keep serious creators has to solve the "when do I actually get my money" problem eventually.
Reddit's automated ad tools are no longer an exclusive beta, and the early performance numbers are the reason every advertiser now gets access.
Reddit expanded its AI-powered Max campaigns to all advertisers globally, moving the tool out of its earlier beta and adding integration with Reddit's advertising API, a new partnership with AI ad platform Smartly, and an asset group feature that lets advertisers organize creative by product line and report on each group's performance separately.
Max campaigns automate targeting, creative selection, placements, and budget allocation using Reddit's Community Intelligence system, which analyzes patterns across the platform's conversations. Reddit says advertisers using Max in testing saw 17% lower costs per acquisition and more than 27% more conversions on average, with the platform overall delivering 2.1 times higher incremental ROAS than the digital media average.
Every major platform is racing to ship its own version of "let the AI run the campaign." Reddit going fully open access, not just wider beta access, is the tell that they're confident in the early numbers. Worth a real test for any client with budget sitting on Reddit and no bandwidth to hand-optimize.
Wall Street's reaction to today's creator economy news came fast, and it landed squarely on Roblox.
Roblox shares jumped between 6% and 11% depending on the session, trading near $49.96 after the company's RDC 2026 announcements gave investors something concrete to evaluate: AI creation tools, standalone game distribution, browser play, and the new creator Wallet. Bank of America and Wedbush both raised their price targets to $48, though both kept neutral ratings, and analysts flagged an unanswered question about how the new tools translate into monetization.
The stock is still down roughly 66% over the past year and trades well below its IPO-day valuation, so today's pop is a bounce off a rough stretch rather than a full turnaround. Oppenheimer maintained an Outperform rating with a $50 price target ahead of the event.
Investors weren't rewarding a promise here, they were rewarding shippable product. Roblox gave Wall Street tools it can actually price and argue about instead of another roadmap slide, and that's why the stock moved even with analysts staying cautious on the rating. Substance over vision, every time.
