McDonald's confirms Monopoly is on pause in the UK and Australia for 2026, the same promotion that only returned to the US last October after a decade away. Molson Coors proves that rebuilding your creator workflow from scratch pays off in engagement. And Amazon just made ChatGPT Ads easier to buy for anyone already running Amazon DSP campaigns.
The same promotion is a headline draw in one market and on pause in two others, a reminder that even McDonald's runs its biggest promotional calendar market by market, not as one global switch.
McDonald's has confirmed that its Monopoly Game promotion is on pause for 2026 in both the UK and Australia, with a spokesperson saying the chain is "looking for new ways to surprise and delight customers" through newer formats instead. It's not the first time the promotion has exited a major market: the US dropped Monopoly back in 2016 after the "McMillions" fraud scandal came to light, and it only returned there last October for the first time in nearly a decade, with prizes including a $1 million cash prize and a Winnebago motorhome. No 2026 US edition has been confirmed yet.
The pattern shows how differently the same global promotion can be managed by market. It has real staying power where it's running (millions of Americans just rediscovered "the thrill of the peel" last fall) and real risk where it's paused, with UK customers already voicing disappointment on social media.
This is a good reminder that a "global" promotion is really a portfolio of local decisions. The US just leaned back into Monopoly as a nostalgia play after a decade away, while the UK and Australia are stepping back from it the same year. Worth remembering that pausing a promotion in one market doesn't mean it's dead everywhere, and reviving it doesn't mean every market follows.
Molson Coors proved the fix for a stuck creator program isn't a bigger budget, it's rebuilding the approval process from scratch.
Molson Coors began overhauling its creator approach in March with creative agency Movers+Shakers' new consultancy arm, The Shake Squad. Since then the company says engagement with its creator content has quadrupled, scaled across 230 marketers and more than 100 brands in the US and Canada, from Miller High Life to Fever Tree to Zoa energy drinks.
The core fix was legal, not creative: a "freedom within a framework" system that sorts decisions into a fast-track lane, a needs-a-conversation lane, and a hard no, with legal embedded in the process from the start rather than reviewing after the fact. "We've moved mountains so much faster than we were before," said Justine Stauffer, senior director of creative effectiveness at Molson Coors. The second pillar: treating organic social less like a high-stakes TV campaign and more like an ongoing conversation, with no single "best platform" or "best creator" answer.
The bottleneck at most legacy brands is never the creative idea, it's the approval chain. Molson Coors fixed the actual constraint, legal turnaround time, instead of asking creators to move faster inside a slow system. That's the exact conversation worth having with any client stuck treating every post like a Super Bowl spot.
Amazon just made ChatGPT Ads a checkbox instead of a whole new platform to learn, for anyone already buying through Amazon DSP.
Amazon Ads and OpenAI launched a pilot letting select US advertisers extend campaigns already running in Amazon DSP directly into ChatGPT, with Delta Vacations named as the first participating brand. Amazon manages setup and optimization while OpenAI's system still decides which ads actually appear, and advertisers can buy on either a cost-per-click or CPM basis, with automatic product feed ads pulling from existing catalogs.
"Conversational ads represent the fastest growing engagement opportunity for brands to reach new and existing audiences," said Chris Conetta, Amazon DSP's director of omnichannel supply. The integration is notable for reaching non-endemic advertisers, brands like Delta Vacations that don't sell products on Amazon but already use its DSP to buy media elsewhere.
This matters less for the pilot's size and more for what it signals: ChatGPT Ads is becoming buyable through the tools marketers already use, not a separate platform to onboard onto. For any client already running Amazon DSP, this is the easiest on-ramp into conversational advertising we've seen yet.
One social platform is finally catching a break this week, and it's not the one everyone's been watching.
Reddit shares jumped roughly 7% this week after Piper Sandler data showed the platform's average users grew 8% month-over-month in August, the strongest single-month pace of 2026, snapping a four-session losing streak. Total audience growth reached 18% year-over-year, up from 12.8% in July, with international users leading the charge at 29.3% growth. Piper Sandler also raised its Q3 ad-spending growth estimate for Reddit.
The rally comes with a caveat: Reddit is preparing a roughly 20% reset to its reported audience size tied to Ads Manager methodology changes, not an actual user decline, meaning the next quarterly disclosure will be the real test of whether this growth holds up under the new measurement basis.
Reddit spent August getting hammered over its ChatGPT citation share collapsing, and this week it's the user growth story instead. Worth remembering that a single data point, good or bad, rarely tells the whole story with a stock this volatile. The methodology reset next quarter is the number that will actually settle it.
